The SC Safe Home Grant is administered by the South Carolina Department of Insurance to provide coastal property owners a way to retrofit their homes to make them more resistant to hurricanes and high wind damage. These grant awards are applicable and can be between $6,000 – $7,500 for owner occupied, single family homes that are insured. This is not a claim that goes against your insurance and is absolutely free to apply for.

In South Carolina we get a lot of heavy rain and it is essential to have weak points of your roof watertight to prevent damage from water seeping in over time. This homeowner was experiencing leaks around the ridge vent as well as the skylight, which is common with existing roof penetrations. They searched on their neighborhoods' vendor list and contacted Klaus Roofing Systems after seeing we had done quality work in the area. Klaus Roofing Systems was able to repair the rotted plywood around the ridge vent and eliminate the ridge vent entirely by installing one of our Solar Attic Fans to provide airflow through the attic instead. We also replaced their skylights with impact resistant versions and closely matched the existing shingle for this homeowner. This homeowner was left with a full service repair that would serve them for the lifetime of their roof.

For this project we replaced a residential roof in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. To replace this roof we began with removing the existing roofing, and any rotten or damaged wood underneath. Ice and water shield was installed on drip edges, step flashings, valleys, and peaks. Other installations on this roof included synthetic felt, aluminum drip, aluminum rake, and new flashings on vents and chimney. Lifetime shingles were installed as well as ridge vents and caps to finish off the project. 

A Pawleys Island home needed a new roof and called on Klaus Roofing team to get the job done.

In the before image, you can see the roof of this single-family home is showing its age so we went right to work, replacing any damaged or rotted wood with new plywood.

To ensure the home is weather protected, our team installed a Synthetic Underlayment on the roof decking. Loose roof decking can be blown off by the wind.

Once our Klaus Roofing team members installed drip edge along all eaves of the roof, it was time for shingles. 

We installed new architectural lifetime shingles. They are an asphalt-based roofing material designed to give this roof a nice, new-looking pattern.
